Dawgs Fall to St. John’s 66-56 at Madison Square Garden
Georgia hung tough with St. John’s for nearly the entire game, but couldn’t pull close enough and fell 66-56. The game was part of the SEC/Big East Challenge at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Trey Thompkins led the Dawgs with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Travis Leslie added 14 points and also pulled down 6 rebounds.
Georgia had a rough shooting night, converting only 18-of-48 from the floor (37-.5%) and 16-of-24 from the free-throw line (66.7%).
It wasn’t a great performance for the Dawgs on national TV, but it was to be expected. This Georgia team sorely lacks perimeter shooting and “basketball” players. Hopefully Coach Fox can muster a few good wins this season and recruit better than the previous regime.
The Dawgs get ten days off before facing the Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Gwinnett Arena in Duluth, Georgia. Illinois is currently 7-2 and has wins over Clemson and Vanderbilt.
