Georgia Bombs Ohio State 24-8 In First Round

The Georgia Bulldogs, behind seven home runs, beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 24-8 in the first round of the NCAA Baseball Regional in Tallahassee. Rich Poythress hit three homers, and Matt Cerione and Joey Lewis each hit two home runs for the Dawgs (38-22).

In the eighth inning, Poythress and Cerione both hit grand slams. Poythree finished 4-for-4 and 7 RBI, Cerione finished 5-for-6 and 5 RBI and Lewis finished 4-for-6 with 4 RBI.

The Diamond Dawgs will face the Florida State Seminoles today at 4:00 p.m. ET. The game will be televised by ESPNU. The winner of this game will face the winner of the Ohio State-Marist game Sunday at 4:00 p.m. ET (ESPNU).
