Lawson Luckie named to 2026 John Mackey Award Watch List
Georgia football tight end Lawson Luckie has been named to the 2026 John Mackey Award Watch List, The Friends of John Mackey have announced.
Lawson Luckie joins 42 other tight ends on the 2026 John Mackey list. The award is given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end.
Other SEC tight ends named to the John Mackey Award Watch List include Brett Norfleet (Missouri), Ethan Davis (Tennessee), Houston Thomas (Texas A&M), Jaden Platt (Arkansas), Lawson Luckie (Georgia), Luke Hasz (Ole Miss), Michael Masunas (Texas), Richie Anderson (Texas A&M), Trey’Dez Green (LSU), and Willie Rodriguez (Kentucky).
Lawson Luckie is a 6-foot-4, 240-pound junior from Norcross, Ga. As a sophomore, he appeared in all 14 contests and started seven times. Luckie finished the season with 158 yards on 15 receptions with four touchdowns.
The back-to-back SEC champion Georgia Bulldogs are scheduled to open the 2026 season on Saturday, September 5 against the Tennessee State Tigers at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The game will kickoff at 3:00pm ET and will be a streaming-only event on SEC Network+.
