Georgia continues to build one of the most impressive recruiting classes in the nation for 2026, and on Wednesday, the Bulldogs added a significant piece to their future defense. Four-star linebacker Nick Abrams, a standout from Maryland, has committed to Kirby Smart’s program, giving Georgia its 29th pledge in a class that ranks No. 2 nationally according to Rivals.

Abrams, who plays with a physical edge and displays a natural feel for diagnosing plays, brings another high-upside body to a linebacker group that is already loaded with blue-chip talent. His decision comes at a pivotal time for Georgia, arriving just one day after five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson committed to Texas. Losing out on Atkinson was a tough blow, but the Bulldogs quickly regained momentum by securing Abrams’ commitment. Abrams chose Georgia over other finalists that consisted of Alabama, Michigan, and Oregon.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, Abrams has drawn national interest from top programs across the country. In the end, Georgia’s consistent presence in his recruitment and its track record of developing NFL-caliber defenders helped tilt the scales. Abrams has long admired Georgia’s defensive identity and player development model. His commitment reflects both confidence in the coaching staff and a belief that Athens offers the right blend of competition, support, and exposure.

With Abrams now in the fold, Georgia adds more depth to a linebacker corps that already features fellow four-star Shadarius Toodle. Abrams and Toodle would combine for a quality duo to follow up Zayden Walker and Anthony Kruah in the Class of 2025, both of whom are expected to contribute to Georgia’s defense and special teams in the 2025 season as true freshmen. Georgia’s track record at linebacker and past recruiting classes have solidified the second level of the Bulldogs’ defense for years to come.

For Georgia, this addition isn’t just about numbers; it’s about maintaining the standard the program has built under Smart. Even in a cycle where the Bulldogs have faced stiff national competition, they continue to attract top-tier talent that aligns with their identity and culture.

Abrams brings a high motor, strong instincts, and leadership qualities that project well to the next level. He’s another example of the type of player Georgia prioritizes, one who can contribute on Saturdays and elevate the competitive standard across the board. With nearly 30 commitments in the class and momentum still strong, the Bulldogs remain firmly in the hunt for the No. 1 class in the country, and Abrams is a key reason why.
