Chace Calicut commits to Georgia Football

Georgia’s great week of recruiting continues with the addition of four-star cornerback Chace Calicut to the Bulldogs’ 2026 class.

Georgia’s unbelievably great week of recruiting continues with the addition of four-star cornerback Chace Calicut to the Bulldogs’ 2026 class. The Houston native and North Shore standout boasts an elite pedigree from one of the nation’s top high school programs. It gives Kirby Smart another high-ceiling defender in what is shaping up to be one of the most complete recruiting classes in college football.

Calicut, who ranks among the top cornerbacks nationally in the 2026 cycle, chose Georgia over a host of national powers, drawn by the Bulldogs’ proven track record of developing defensive backs and their consistent presence in the College Football Playoff conversation. With the Dawgs sending multiple DBs to the NFL in recent years, including first-rounders like Eric Stokes and DeAndre Baker before him, Calicut sees Athens as the ideal launching pad for his football future.

This commitment marks Georgia’s 23rd pledge in the 2026 class and continues a remarkable recruiting surge for the Bulldogs this week. On Monday, Georgia added in-state EDGE rusher Khamari Brooks. On Tuesday, the Dawgs secured another defensive difference-maker in Corey Howard, a 6-foot-6 pass rusher out of Valdosta. The momentum only accelerated on Wednesday when four-star running back Jae Lamar picked Georgia over Miami in a heated battle that had drawn national attention. Then, on Thursday, four-star wide receiver Craig Dandridge elected to stay home and give UGA fans another offensive weapon to be excited about.

Now, with Calicut in the fold, Georgia adds a true lockdown corner with length, instincts, and versatility to thrive in the Bulldogs’ aggressive defensive scheme. At 6-foot and nearing 180 pounds, Calicut has the frame and technique to match up with elite receivers on the outside, as well as the football IQ and toughness to contribute early on special teams and in nickel packages.

Georgia’s Class of 2026 now features top-tier talent across every position group. And with this latest win on the recruiting trail, it’s clear that Kirby Smart and his staff aren’t just stacking stars—they’re building a foundation that could keep Georgia at the top of the college football world for years to come.

Calicut’s pledge is another strong signal that elite prospects from all across the country, yes, even in the heart of Texas, are buying into what Georgia is building in Athens when most doubted Georgia’s ability to stay at the top of the recruiting world in the new revenue-sharing era.
