Below is what the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Selection Committee had to say about Luckie:
Georgia tight end Lawson Luckie has become a respected veteran leader in Athens, known for his toughness, work ethic and commitment to mentoring younger teammates. A 2026 preseason Second-Team All-SEC selection, Luckie has recorded 52 career receptions for 699 yards and 10 touchdowns, including three touchdown catches in a 2025 game against Ole Miss. Inspired by his younger brother Cannon’s rare FOXG1 syndrome, Luckie has made serving others a central part of his life, supporting organizations that benefit children with disabilities, cancer patients and families in need. He has advocated for mental health awareness, helped fund a teen club at the Boys & Girls Club of Athens and worked with Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett and Destination Dawgs, demonstrating a deep commitment to using his platform to make a difference in his community.
“I’m very honored to announce the semifinalists for the Collegiate Man of the Year,” said Witten. “These twenty young men are prime examples of what makes college football so great. They have separated themselves not just by their play on the field, but how they have been leaders in the locker room, in their communities and in their own families. They are great representatives for their schools and the game of football, and I commend all nominees for getting to this point.”
Three finalists will be named for the award on Tuesday, December 15. The winner will be announced at the award ceremony at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on March 11, 2027.
