Georgia moves to No. 1 following win over Alabama

Georgia took over the top spot in the Week  7 college football rankings after a 20-17 win over Alabama on the road, a game that was decided late in the fourth quarter.

Gunner Stockton threw for 249 yards and a touchdown to go with his rushing score, and Georgia’s defense clamped down in the second half, allowing just three points after halftime.

The Bulldogs received 66 of 70 first-place votes and 1,745 points in the AP Poll. The AP Top 5 is rounded out by Notre Dame, Miami (Fla.), Ohio State, and Indiana.

The Coaches Poll offers a slightly different picture at the top, with Indiana and Ohio State flipped. The Bulldogs received 1,832 points and 60 of 74 first-place votes in that poll.
