ATHENS, Ga. – The Southeastern Conference champion Georgia Bulldogs will be the top seed in the upcoming Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament at the Hoover (Ala.) Metropolitan Complex.

The Bulldogs (43-12, 23-7 SEC), ranked as high as No. 4 nationally, earned a double bye with their top finish in league play. Georgia, under the direction of Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson, will play on Thursday at 4pm ET, and their opponent has yet to be determined. Teams are seeded based on winning percentage in regular season conference competition.

In Tuesday’s first round, ninth seed Ole Miss will face No. 16 seed Missouri at 10:30 a.m. ET. The winner of that game will face eighth seed Mississippi State Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. ET. Georgia will face the winner of the MSU/Rebels-Tigers contest on Thursday.

During the regular season, Georgia claimed the series over Ole Miss 2-1 in Oxford, swept Missouri in Athens and swept MSU in Starkville. The 2026 SEC Tournament format is single elimination. Games one through 14 will air on SEC Network with Sunday’s championship to be featured on ABC.

The Bulldogs won nine of their 10 league series including all five on the road against ranked opponents, a first in SEC history. Since the league went to a 30-game slate in 1996, Georgia’s 23-7 mark was one of the best for an SEC Champion, trailing only the 2013 Vanderbilt (26-3), 2000 South Carolina (25-5) and 2022 Tennessee (25-5) teams. The 2019 Vanderbilt squad also went 23-7.

Georgia’s 43 wins in the regular season is the most ever in a 56-game slate in school history and just one shy of the 1990 national champions that played 59 regular season games and were 44-15 heading into the postseason. The 1990 team finished with a school record 52-19 mark.

The Bulldogs will be making their 31st appearance at the SEC Tournament where they are 31-52. Georgia’s best finish at the event has been second three times.

Meanwhile, the 2026 NCAA Tournament field of 64 will be announced on Memorial Day, May 25. With its overall record, SEC title and consensus top five ranking, the Bulldogs are in position once again be a top eight national seed for the third consecutive year.
