Georgia football players Chris Cole and Darren Ikinnagbon, both linebackers, were arrested late Wednesday night by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department on misdemeanor driving charges, according to a report from UGASports.com.

Per Athens-Clarke County Jail records online, Chris Cole was charged with speeding (maximum limits) and reckless driving, while Darren Ikinnagbon was charged with following too closely, speeding (maximum limits), and reckless driving.

“We are aware of the charges and are actively gathering additional information,” UGA spokesman Steven Drummond told UGASports.com. “As an ongoing legal matter, we will not be providing further comment at this time.”

Although it wasn’t specifically stated by the charges and may later be revealed by the incident report(s), Cole and Ikinnagbon were likely racing.

Since January 2023, more than 20 individuals associated with the program have been arrested for speeding, reckless driving, or similar violations. These incidents range from high-speed stops—such as Nitro Tuggle being clocked at 107 mph—to repeated cases of players cited for excessive speeding or reckless driving, including Jamon Dumas‑Johnson, Aliou Bah, De’Nylon Morrissettee, Marvin Jones Jr., and others.

The issue gained national attention following the January 2023 crash that killed staffer Chandler LeCroy and offensive lineman Devin Willock, an event that underscored the seriousness of the program’s ongoing struggles with driving behavior.

In 2025 alone, three players—Nitro Tuggle, Nyier Daniels, and Marques Easley—were arrested on driving-related charges before ultimately entering the transfer portal. Beyond traffic offenses, the program has also seen isolated non-driving incidents, most notably the arrest of freshman defensive lineman London Seymour in early 2026 on 11 felony counts of property damage tied to a viral TikTok “door kick” challenge.
