Georgia football junior quarterback Gunner Stockton has been named the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week after his performance in the Bulldogs’ 44-41 overtime win at Tennessee.
In the comeback win, Stockton completed 23-of-31 passes (74.2%) for 304 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. He rushed for 38 yards and one touchdown.
Stockton, who was also named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, finished the game with a 93.4 quarterback rating and a 177.9 pass efficiency rating.
Other quarterbacks on this week’s Davey O’Brien Great 8 list were Bryson Barnes (Utah State), Colton Joseph (Old Dominion), Haynes King (Georgia Tech), Behren Morton (Texas Tech), Marcel Reed (Texas A&M), Jake Retzlaff (Tulane), and Ty Simpson (Alabama).
Gunner Stockton, a native of Tiger, Ga., played for Rabun County High School and signed with the Georgia Bulldogs in 2022.
Following a bye this weekend, the Bulldogs’ next game is on Saturday, Sept. 27 against the No. 14 Alabama Crimson Tide at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The game will be televised by ABC and streamed via ESPN3 at 7:30pm ET (Buy Tickets).
