Gunner Stockton named to 2025 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List

Georgia football junior quarterback Gunner Stockton has been named to the 2025 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc., has announced.

The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is an annual award given to the “…top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class.” Stockton is one of 58 student-athletes named to this year’s watch list that is based on “player performance on and off the field.”

Other SEC quarterbacks named to the 2025 watch list include Joey Aguilar (Tennessee), Jackson Arnold (Auburn), Zach Calzada (Kentucky), Taylen Green (Arkansas), LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina), Blake Shapen (Mississippi State), Ty Simpson (Alabama), Arch Manning (Texas), John Mateer (Oklahoma), Garrett Nussmeier (LSU), Diego Pavia (Vanderbilt), and Marcel Reed (Texas A&M).

The winner of the 2025 Golden Arm Award will be presented with the trophy at the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.

Gunner Stockton is a 6-foot-1, 215-pound junior from Tiger, Ga. Last season, Stockton appeared in five contests as a reserve quarterback, most notably in the SEC Championship Game against Texas before starting the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Stockton finished the season 45-of-64 for 440 yards and one touchdown.

The Georgia Bulldogs are set to open the 2025 season at home against the Marshall Thundering Herd on Saturday, Aug. 30. The game will be televised live by ESPN at 3:30pm ET (Buy Tickets).
