Tyriq Green, a four-star safety out of powerhouse Buford High School in Georgia, has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, delivering another major recruiting victory for head coach Kirby Smart and his staff. Green’s decision reinforces Georgia’s dominance in the Peach State and continues a promising trend of pipeline success from a historically challenging school for the Bulldogs to recruit.

For years, Buford High produced elite talent that often looked elsewhere when making college decisions. But things began to shift with the signing of five-star safety KJ Bolden in the previous cycle. Bolden, who made an immediate impact as a true freshman in Athens and earned Freshman All-America honors, helped reset the perception of Georgia within Buford’s elite program. With Green following in his footsteps, it’s clear the Bulldogs have gained significant traction with the Wolves.

Green, a 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back, is known for his range, physicality, and instincts on the back end. He projects as a multi-year contributor at safety and brings the kind of versatility that Georgia has consistently maximized under co-defensive coordinators Glenn Schumann and Travaris Robinson. Green has also been praised for his leadership on and off the field and is considered one of the most polished defensive backs in the 2026 class.

His commitment is the 28th for Georgia in the 2026 cycle and adds another elite defensive piece to a class already locked in a battle with USC for the No. 1 spot in the national rankings, per On3 and Rivals. Green’s addition could be the tipping point that helps Georgia regain the top spot as the Bulldogs reload at an elite level.

With two premier defensive backs from Buford now calling Athens home in back-to-back cycles, Georgia is not only securing future stars in the secondary but also reshaping one of the state’s most crucial recruiting relationships. Green’s commitment is another example of Georgia’s relentless momentum on the trail and the gravitational pull of a program that continues to churn out NFL-ready talent—and win championships.
