A top-100 national prospect, Smith gives Georgia another elite defensive playmaker, choosing the Bulldogs over several SEC rivals and major programs across the country.
Hailing from Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Georgia, Smith is widely regarded as one of the premier safeties in the 2026 cycle. Measuring 6-foot-2 and weighing 195 pounds, his combination of size, athleticism, and football IQ makes him a valuable addition to Georgia’s secondary. Smith’s ability to diagnose plays quickly and deliver big hits in run support, along with his instincts in pass coverage, sets him apart from other defensive backs in his class.
As a junior, Smith posted impressive numbers, racking up 85 tackles, seven pass breakups, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. His versatility allows him to excel as both a deep safety and in-the-box defender, giving defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann plenty of options in how he’ll be deployed in Athens.
Smith becomes the ninth commitment in Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class, joining recent high-profile additions like five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. With his pledge, Georgia continues its momentum from the record-breaking 2025 class, which saw the Bulldogs bring in a combined 22 high school signees and transfers—the most ever under Smart.
