The Georgia Bulldogs have added a familiar name to their 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star defensive end Carter Luckie. Carter is the younger brother of current Georgia tight end Lawson Luckie and the son of former UGA linebacker Mike Luckie, who played alongside Kirby Smart during their college careers in the 1990s. The family ties to the program are deep, but Carter’s decision wasn’t solely rooted in legacy; Georgia’s development pipeline and elite coaching staff also played a significant role.
Ranked among the top 20 defensive ends nationally and a top-40 player in the state of Georgia for the 2026 cycle, Luckie has long been on the Bulldogs’ radar. He was first offered by Georgia early in his recruitment, which laid the foundation for a strong relationship with defensive line coach Tray Scott. That relationship only strengthened during his recent visit for Georgia’s annual Scavenger Hunt event, a recruiting tradition that mixes fun competition with behind-the-scenes exposure to the program’s culture.
Luckie’s pledge marks Georgia’s second defensive line addition, joining four-star and top JUCO-ranked defensive tackle Seven Cloud. With his 6-foot-4 frame and disruptive skillset, Luckie projects as a key piece for Georgia’s future defensive front, offering the kind of versatility and pedigree the Bulldogs have thrived on under Smart and Scott.
The commitment helps further solidify Georgia’s long-term recruiting success within state lines and continues a trend of locking down top in-state talent early. With Luckie now on board, the Bulldogs are expected to keep momentum rolling as they host more 2026 targets during summer visits. For Carter Luckie, it’s not just about following in family footsteps, it’s about blazing his path on a defense known for producing NFL talent, all while wearing the same red and black his father and brother once did.
