With several elite prospects closing in on their decisions, the next month could be critical for Georgia football’s 2026 recruiting efforts. Four major targets—each ranked among the best at their position—are expected to announce their commitments soon, and the Bulldogs are firmly in the mix for all of them.
Jared Curtis (QB, Nashville, TN)
Jared Curtis, widely regarded as the top quarterback in the 2026 class, is slated to reveal his college decision on May 5. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound standout from Nashville Christian School was previously committed to Georgia early in 2024 but reopened his recruitment in the winter. Since then, Curtis has focused on Georgia and Oregon, canceling upcoming visits as he nears a final choice. A dominant junior season saw him lead his team to a 13-1 record and a state championship, throwing for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns while adding 637 yards and 18 scores on the ground. He was recognized as both Tennessee Mr. Football and the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year. His commitment will be a defining moment in this recruiting cycle.
Kealan Jones (S, Marietta, GA)
Jones, a 6’1″, 185-pound safety out of Sprayberry High School, is expected to announce his decision on April 12. He’s rated among the top 50 players nationally and one of the best in Georgia, with a final list that includes the Bulldogs and the Gators. Jones recently visited Florida and connected well with safeties coach Vinnie Sunseri, but Georgia remains a strong contender and could be the team to beat heading into the announcement.
Malcolm Gaston (IOL, North Augusta, SC)
Interior lineman Malcolm Gaston will reveal his commitment on May 2. Measuring 6’6″ and 310 pounds, Gaston has narrowed his focus to four schools: Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech. A recent visit to Athens left a strong impression on him and his family, and current recruiting projections suggest the Bulldogs may be in the lead.
Jackson Cantwell (OT, Nixa, MO)
Cantwell, a towering 6’8″, 300-pound offensive tackle and the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 class, hasn’t set a specific date for his decision but has hinted that it may come soon. He has official visits lined up with Miami, Missouri, Georgia, Michigan, and Oregon this spring and summer. With his recruitment nearing a conclusion, Georgia will look to make a major statement during his June 6 visit.
These upcoming decisions will shape the foundation of Georgia’s 2026 class—and could signal another elite haul for Kirby Smart and his staff.

Lately, UGA seems to always be second choice! And virtually NOBODY from Georgia, makes that short drive to Athens.
