Bulldogs fall to Razorbacks, 68-65

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Georgia Bulldogs (14-5, 2-4 SEC) fell to the Arkansas Razorbacks (12-7, 1-5 SEC), 68-65, on Wednesday night at Bud Walton Arena. Two scorers reached double figures led by Asa Newell’s 18 points on the night.

• After Newell’s 18-point effort, junior forward RJ Godfrey followed up with 11 points on the night.
• Newell recorded his 18th double-figure scoring output in 19 games, leading Georgia offensively for the 12th time this season.
• Newell finished with eight boards, notching his 11th game with five or more rebounds and sixth with eight or more in a game.
• Somto Cyril tallied two blocks again the Razorbacks, marking his ninth multi-block game this season and 17th with at least one rejection.
• Blue Cain connected from behind the arc twice with both makes coming in the first half, marking his third streak of back-to-back games with multiple 3-pointers made this season.

“Just didn’t do a good enough job getting on the offensive glass and got pounded on the defensive glass, especially in the second half,” head coach Mike White said. “It will be 18 offensive rebounds on the road, tough to overcome. A lot of those led to fouls, which led to 29 made free throws by Arkansas. Credit those guys for attacking the glass. They’re long, they’re athletic. They played really hard, they’re tough, they’re physical. And our defensive attention to detail and physical and mental toughness wasn’t as sharp as it needed to be to win on the road.”
