Kirby Smart named George Munger College Coach of the Year Award finalist
Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart has been named a George Munger College Coach of the Year Award finalist, the Maxwell Football Club announced Tuesday.

The award is named after former University of Pennsylvania head coach George Munger. Voters include NCAA head coaches, members of the Maxwell Club, and sportswriters from all over the country.
Kirby Smart won the George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year Award following the 2017 season after guiding the Bulldogs to an SEC Championship, a victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl, and a College Football Playoff National Championship appearance.
This season, Kirby Smart has led Georgia to an SEC Championship Game victory over the Texas Longhorns, an 11-2 record, and a berth in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals.
The winner of the 2024 George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year Award will be announced on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, and the award will be formally presented at the 88th Maxwell Awards Gala on Thursday, March 14, 2025, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Ga.
Georgia is next scheduled to play Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La. ESPN will televise the game at 8:45pm ET (Buy Tickets).
