The Georgia Bulldogs will play in the 2024 SEC Championship Game, the conference officially announced late Saturday evening.

Georgia (9-2, 6-2 SEC) qualified for the SEC Championship Game following the results of Saturday’s conference contests. The Bulldogs punched their ticket to the title game after the Oklahoma Sooners upset the Alabama Crimson Tide, 24-3, and the Auburn Tigers defeated the Texas A&M Aggies in quadruple overtime, 43-41.

Georgia finished up its SEC slate last week with a 31-17 victory at home over Tennessee. The Bulldogs crushed UMass early on Saturday, 59-21.

In the SEC Championship Game, Georgia will face the winner of next week’s Texas vs. Texas A&M contest. That game is slated for Saturday, Nov. 30 at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, and the contest will be televised by ABC at 7:30pm ET. It will also mark the first gridiron meeting between the two bitter rivals since the Aggies departed the Big 12 for the SEC following the 2011 season.

Georgia still has its own business to take care of, however. The Bulldogs square off with in-state rival Georgia Tech in the 2024 edition of Clean, Old Fashioned Hate on Black Friday (Nov. 29) at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The annual battle will be televised by ABC at 7:30pm ET.

A loss to Georgia Tech on Friday could mean that the SEC Championship Game is a play-in to the College Football Playoff for the Bulldogs. But a win over the Yellow Jackets could pad Georgia’s resume and get them into the new 12-team field regardless of the SEC Championship result.

Wins over Georgia Tech and either Texas or Texas A&M in the SEC Championship Game would surely grant the Bulldogs one of the top four seeds in the playoff and a first-round bye.

The 2024 SEC Championship Game is set for Saturday, Dec. 7 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. The game will be televised by ABC at 4:00pm ET (Buy Tickets).
