Brett Thorson named 2024 Ray Guy Award finalist
Georgia football junior punter Brett Thorson has been named a finalist for the 2024 Ray Guy Award, the Augusta Sports Council has announced.
The Ray Guy Award is an annual award presented to the nation’s top punter in college football. Thorson is one of three finalists for the award this season along with Alex Mastromanno of Florida State and Eddie Czaplicki of USC.
The Ray Guy Award will provide one additional vote as determined by football fans for one of the three finalists. The Fan Vote will be located on the Ray Guy Award website beginning November 27th and is equivalent to one national selection committee member’s vote.
The 2024 Ray Guy Award winner will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards live on ESPN on Thursday, December 12.
Brett Thorson, who hails from Melbourne, Australia, has a career-long punt of 75 yards (vs. Tennessee, 2022). This season, Thorson has punted 35 times for 1,622 yards (46.34 avg.) with 13 punts 50+ yards and 19 punts inside the 20.
The Georgia Bulldogs (9-2, 6-2 SEC) are next scheduled to host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Friday, Nov. 29 at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The game will be televised by ABC at 7:30pm ET (Buy Tickets).
