Walker, Williams named Co-SEC Players of the Week following Texas win

UGA football junior linebacker Jalon Walker and junior defensive lineman Mykel Williams have each been named Co-SEC Players of the Week, the SEC announced Monday.

Walker, who hails from Salisbury, N.C., was named the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Bulldogs’ 30-15 victory over the top-ranked Texas Longhorns. Walker had three sacks for a total loss of 23 yards, eight tackles overall, one fumble recovery, and seven quarterback pressures in the victory.

Walker shared the honors with South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori.

Mykel Williams, a native of Columbus, Ga., was named Co-SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week following his performance in the victory over the Longhorns. Williams tallied three tackles, including two sacks, and forced a fumble that was recovered by Georgia.

South Carolina’s Tonka Hemingway was also named Co-SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

This weekend on Saturday, Oct. 26, Georgia will enjoy it’s second and final open date of the season. Then on Saturday, Nov. 2, the Bulldogs travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to take on the Florida Gators at EverBank Stadium. The game will be televised by ABC and streamed via ESPN+ at 3:30pm ET (Buy Tickets).
