Peyton Woodring named to 2024 Lou Groza Award Watch List
UGA sophomore placekicker Peyton Woodring has been named to the 2024 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Watch List, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced on Friday.
The Groza Award, named after legendary place-kicker Lou Groza, is an annual college football award given to the nation’s best kicker.
Woodring, who hails from Lafayette, La., connected on 21-of-25 field goal attempts last season (84%). He also made all 71 of his extra-point attempts.
Those numbers during his freshman season earned Peyton Woodring semifinalist honors for the 2023 Lou Groza Award. He was also named to the 247Sports True Freshman All-America Team.
The Georgia Bulldogs are set to open the 2024 season against the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Aug. 31. The game will be televised live by ABC at noon ET (Buy Tickets).
