Jared Wilson named to 2024 Rimington Trophy Watch List
UGA football junior offensive lineman Jared Wilson has been named to the 2024 Rimington Trophy Watch List, the Rimington Trophy Committee has announced.
Wilson is one of 40 centers named to the Rimington list this season. Other SEC centers named to the list include Jake Slaughter (Florida), Branson Hickman (Oklahoma), Cooper Mays (Tennessee), Jake Majors (Texas), Connor Lew (Auburn), Connor Tollison (Missouri), Ethen Miner (Mississippi State), and Vershon Lee (South Carolina).
The SEC leads the Rimington Trophy Watch List with 10 nominations, followed by the ACC with nine and the Big Ten with six.
The Rimington Trophy is awarded to the most outstanding center in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The winner is chosen by determining the consensus All-American center from three existing All-America teams: Walter Camp Foundation (WCF), Sporting News (SN), and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).
Jared Wilson (6-3, 310) is a native of Winston-Salem, N.C. Last season as a sophomore, Wilson played in 13 of 14 games for the Bulldogs. He was part of an offensive line that ranked first in the SEC and seventh nationally in sacks allowed (0.93) and he also helped Georgiaβs offense finish second in the SEC and fifth in the nation in total offense (496.5), offensive passing efficiency (168.21), and scoring offense (40.1).
Georgia is set to open the 2024 season against the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Aug. 31. The game will be televised live by ABC at noon ET (Buy Tickets).
