UGA football senior quarterback Carson Beck has been named to the 2024 Manning Award Watch List, the Allstate Sugar Bowl has announced.

The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates’ bowl performances into consideration in its balloting.

Carson Beck is one of 29 quarterbacks on the Manning Award Watch List this season. Other SEC quarterbacks named to the list include Brady Cook (Missouri), Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss), Quinn Ewers (Jr. (Texas),, Graham Mertz (Florida), and Jalen Milroe (Alabama).

“The start of college football is always an exciting time of year,” said Archie Manning. “There’s lots of anticipation on campuses around the country and the quarterback position always draws a lot of attention and scrutiny. We hope that the Watch List for the Manning Award brings some positive attention to many of the top returning quarterbacks looking to have big years. And after we get into the season, we’ll revisit things and expand our Watch List to include transfers and young quarterbacks who have started to make their marks on the game.”

The winner of the 2024 Manning Award will be announced after the bowls in January.

Carson Beck (6-4, 220) hails from Jacksonville, Fla. In his junior season in Athens, he started all 14 games and led the Bulldogs to a 13-1 record and Orange Bowl victory over Florida State.

Beck completed 302-of-417 passes last season for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also rushed 60 times for 116 yards and four touchdowns.

The Georgia Bulldogs are set to open the 2024 season against the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Aug. 31. The game will be televised live by ABC at noon ET (Buy Tickets).
