UGA football senior quarterback Carson Beck has been named to the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc., has announced.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is an annual award given to the “…top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class.” Beck is one of 63 student-athletes named to this year’s watch list that is based on “player performance on and off the field.”
Other SEC quarterbacks named to the 2024 watch list include Brady Cook (Missouri), Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss), Quinn Ewers (Texas), Graham Mertz (Florida), Jalen Milroe (Alabama), Garrett Nussmeier (LSU), Blake Shapen (Mississippi State), Payton Thorne (Auburn), Brock Vandagriff (Kentucky), and Conner Weigman (Texas A&M).
The winner of the 2024 Golden Arm Award will be presented with the trophy at the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024.
Carson Beck is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound senior from Jacksonville, Fla. In his junior season in Athens, he started all 14 games and led the Bulldogs to a 13-1 record and Orange Bowl victory over Florida State.
Beck completed 302-of-417 passes last season for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also rushed 60 times for 116 yards and four touchdowns.
The Georgia Bulldogs are set to open the 2024 season against the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Aug. 31. The game will be televised live by ABC at noon ET (Buy Tickets).
