Carson Beck named to 2024 Davey O’Brien Award Watch List
UGA senior quarterback Carson Beck has been named to the 2024 Davey O’Brien Award Watch List, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has announced.
The Davey O’Brien Award is an annual award given to the nation’s top quarterback. Beck is one of 36 student-athletes named to this year’s watch list that is based on “previous Division I career player performance as well as expectations heading into the 2024 college football season.”
Other SEC quarterbacks named to the 2024 watch list include Brady Cook (Missouri), Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss), Quinn Ewers (Texas), Graham Mertz (Florida), and Jalen Milroe (Alabama).
Sixteen semifinalists for the 2024 Davey O’Brien Award will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 12, followed by the three finalists two weeks later on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The winner of the 2024 Davey O’Brien Award will be announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Thursday, Dec. 12 live on ESPN.
Carson Beck is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound senior from Jacksonville, Fla. In his junior season in Athens, he started all 14 games and led the Bulldogs to a 13-1 record and Orange Bowl victory over Florida State.
Beck completed 302-of-417 passes last season for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also rushed 60 times for 116 yards and four touchdowns.
The Georgia Bulldogs are set to open the 2024 season against the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Aug. 31. The game will be televised live by ABC at noon ET (Buy Tickets).
