Brett Thorson named to 2024 Ray Guy Award Watch List

UGA football junior punter Brett Thorson has been named to the 2024 Ray Guy Award Watch List, the Augusta Sports Council has announced.
The Ray Guy Award is an annual award presented to the nation’s top punter in college football. Thorson is one of 33 candidates for the award this season.
The list of 33 punters, which could expand as the season progresses, will be narrowed down to ten semifinalists on Friday, Nov. 15, followed by the announcement of three finalists on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
The 2024 Ray Guy Award winner will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards live on ESPN in December.
Brett Thorson, who hails from Melbourne, Australia, has a career-long punt of 75 yards (vs. Tennessee, 2022). In his sophomore season in Athens in 2023, Thorson punted 32 times for 1,403 yards (43.8 yards per punt).
The national champion Georgia Bulldogs are scheduled to open the 2023 season on Saturday, Sept. 2 against the UT Martin Skyhawks at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. (Buy Tickets).
