UGA football standouts Carson Beck and Malaki Starks have both been named to the 2024 Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced on Monday.

Beck and Starks are among 52 “players to watch” for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, which is the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade.

“We are proud to continue the great work of Walter Camp and recognize the best college football players in the nation,” Foundation president John Barbarotta said. “This watch list is a great start to what is shaping up to be another exciting year of college football.”

In early November, the watch list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists, followed by the announcement of three finalists on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The winner of the 2024 Walter Camp National Player of the Year will be announced live on ESPN on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Thursday, Dec. 12.

Carson Beck is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound senior quarterback from Jacksonville, Fla. In his junior season in Athens, he started all 14 games and led the Bulldogs to a 13-1 record and Orange Bowl victory over Florida State.

Beck completed 302 of 417 passes last season for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also rushed 60 times for 116 yards and four touchdowns.

Malaki Starks, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound junior from Jefferson, Ga., started at defensive back in 13 games last season. Starks finished fourth on the Bulldogs with 52 tackles — 31 solo — and recorded three picks.

The Georgia Bulldogs are set to open the 2024 season against the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Aug. 31. The game will be televised live by ABC at noon ET (Buy Tickets).
