Mike Bobo named 2023 Broyles Award nominee

UGA offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo has been named a 2023 Broyles Award nominee, the Frank & Barbara Broyles Foundation announced on Tuesday.

The Broyles Award is an annual award that is presented to the top assistant coach in college football. Mike Bobo is one of 61 nominees that were selected from approximately 1,500 coaches representing 131 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

The Broyles Award selection process includes the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), broadcasters, a college football hall-of-fame selection committee, and current college head coaches.

Other SEC assistant coaches nominated include Tommy Rees (Alabama, Offensive Coordinator/QB), Travis Williams (Arkansas, Defensive Coordinator/LB), Mike Denbrock (Offensive Coordinator/TE), Kevin Peoples (Missouri, Defensive Line/Edge), Pete Golding (Ole Miss, Defensive Coordinator/LB), and Tim Banks (Tennessee, Defensive Coordinator).

Semi-finalists for the 2023 Broyles Award will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 21, followed by the finalists on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The second-ranked (CFP) Bulldogs’ next game is on Saturday, Nov. 18 against the Tennessee Volunteers at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. The game will be televised by CBS at 3:30pm ET.

Georgia also clinched the SEC East on Saturday and will face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 2. The game will be televised by CBS at 4:00pm ET.
