Ladd McConkey named 2023 Wuerffel Trophy finalist
UGA football junior wide receiver Ladd McConkey has been named a finalist for the 2023 Wuerffel Trophy, it was announced on Tuesday.
The Wuerffel Trophy, named after former Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel, is presented by the All Sports Association of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., to the college football player who “…best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field.”
McConkey is one of three finalists for the 2023 Wuerffel Trophy, along with Notre Dame senior linebacker JD Bertrand and Michigan senior running back Blake Corum, Michigan.
“Congratulations to Ladd, Blake, and JD for being named 2023 Wuerffel Trophy finalists. These amazing student-athletes are true servant leaders, and I am proud of the impact they have had serving their communities,” remarked Wuerffel. “We are honored to invite the final recipient to the Heisman Ceremony and Gala in New York City. Special thanks to our selection committee, who succeed each year at the challenging task of narrowing our list of 100+ FBS nominees to three finalists.”
While winning Back-to-Back-National Championships and scoring 2 TDs in the 2022 game is the pinnacle of a student-athlete’s career accomplishments, what Ladd McConkey does off the field is just as impressive.
