ESPN reveals dates for UGA football games at Alabama, Texas in 2024
The Georgia Bulldogs are set to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2023 SEC Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 2 in Atlanta, Ga. The game will mark the first meeting between the two schools since the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship.
Next season, Georgia is scheduled to travel to face Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and per an ESPN report on Monday, fans won’t have to wait long to see that rematch. According to Chris Low of ESPN, Georgia and Alabama will square off on Saturday, Sept. 28, which is Week 5 of the 2024 season.
Georgia and Alabama’s last regular-season meeting occurred in 2020 in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide defeated the Bulldogs in that contest, 41-24.
ESPN has also reported that Georgia will travel to take on the Texas Longhorns in Week 8 on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024. The contest will mark the first meeting between the two teams since the Longhorns defeated the Bulldogs in the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl, 28-21.
In June, the SEC announced all eight opponents for the Bulldogs in 2024, but without the dates. Georgia will host Auburn, Mississippi State, and Tennessee in Athens, Ga., and will also be the home team against Florida in Jacksonville. In addition to visiting Alabama and Texas, Georgia will travel to face Kentucky and Ole Miss.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to open the 2024 season against the Clemson Tigers on Saturday, Aug. 31 in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. Georgia’s remaining three non-conference contests will all be played at Sanford Stadium in Athens — Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on Sept. 7, UMass Minutemen on Nov. 23, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Nov. 30.
The complete 2024 UGA football schedule with dates is expected to be unveiled in mid-December.
