Brock Bowers named 2023 Walter Camp Player of the Year semifinalist

UGA football junior tight end Brock Bowers has been named a semifinalist for the 2023 Walter Camp Player of the Year, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced on Tuesday.

Bowers is one of 10 semifinalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, which is the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade. He also a Rotary Lombardi Award finalist and a semifinalist for the Maxwell, Biletnikoff, and Mackey awards.

Five finalists for the annual Walter Camp Player of the Year award will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The winner of the 2023 award will be announced live on ESPN on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Friday, Dec. 8.

Brock Bowers is a 6-foot-4, 240-pound tight end from Napa, Calif. In nine games this season, he has caught 51 passes for 661 yards and six touchdowns. Bowers has also rushed six times for 28 yards and one touchdown.

The top-ranked Bulldogs’ next game is on Saturday, Nov. 25 against the in-state rival Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. (Buy Tickets). The game will be televised by ABC at 7:30pm ET.

Georgia is also set to face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2023 SEC Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 2 (Buy Tickets). That contest will kickoff at 4:00pm ET with television coverage via CBS.
