Asa Newell commits to UGA basketball for 2024

Asa Newell, a five-star forward from Montverde, Fla., has committed to UGA basketball for the 2024 class.

Newell committed to head coach Mike White and the Georgia Bulldogs on Wednesday over Alabama, Texas, and Gonzaga.

In the 247Sports Composite, Asa Newwell (6-9, 205) is rated as a five-star recruit, the No. 2 power forward, and the No. 8 overall recruit in the country for 2024. Rivals.com also rates Newell as a five-star recruit, the No. 4 small forward, and the No. 16 recruit nationally.

Asa Newell will join his brother Jaden on Georgia’s roster next season in Athens. Jaden Newell is a redshirt freshman walk-on for Mike White’s Bulldogs in 2023.
