Five Bulldogs named to 2023 Lombardi Award Watch List

Five UGA football players have been named to the 2023 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List, The Lombardi Award and Rotary Club of Houston announced on Tuesday.

Georgia Bulldogs named to the watch list this season include junior tight end Brock Bowers (2022 Lombardi Award finalist), junior linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson, junior offensive guard Tate Ratledge, redshirt sophomore center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, and sophomore defensive lineman Mykel Williams.

The Rotary Lombardi Award is coveted award given annually to the college football offensive or defensive lineman “…who exemplifies the character and discipline of NFL Hall of Fame Head Coach Vince Lombardi in addition to outstanding performance and ability.”

To be considered for the Lombardi Award, players must be an NCAA FBS College Football team member and meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a down Lineman, end to end, either on offense or defense, setting up no further than ten (10) yards to the left or right of the ball at the time of the snap.
  • Be a Linebacker on defense, setting up no further than five (5) yards deep from the line of scrimmage.
  • Must not come out of the offensive backfield and set up on the line of scrimmage as a Blocker or a Receiver or listed in the program as an Offensive Back or Receiver.
  • Be eligible to participate in the current season.

Semifinalists for the 2023 Lombardi Award will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 1 followed by the announcement of the four finalists two weeks later on Wednesday, Nov. 15. The winner of the 2023 Lombardi Award will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

The back-to-back national champion Georgia Bulldogs are scheduled to open the 2023 season on Saturday, Sept. 2 against the UT Martin Skyhawks at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. (Buy Tickets).
