Carson Beck, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound junior, has been named UGA football’s starting quarterback in 2023, according to an announcement from head coach Kirby Smart on Saturday.

Smart made the announcement following Georgia’s second scrimmage of fall camp. Beck won the starting job over redshirt sophomore Brock Vandagriff and redshirt freshman Gunner Stockton.

Carson Beck signed with Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs and enrolled in January 2020. He saw his first action in the fourth quarter of the Missouri game that season, but did not attempt any passes.

In 2021, Beck saw limited action behind Stetson Bennett, but he did complete 10-of-23 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns. Last season Beck again played behind Bennett and recorded 26 completions on 35 attempts, 310 yards, and four touchdowns.
