Brock Bowers, Oscar Delp named to 2023 John Mackey Award Watch List

UGA football junior Brock Bowers and sophomore Oscar Delp have both been named to the 2023 John Mackey Award Watch List, The Friends of John Mackey have announced.

The two Georgia Bulldogs join 46 other tight ends on the 2023 John Mackey list. The award is given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end.

The winner of the 2023 John Mackey Award will be announced in December and then presented at The Home Depot College Football Awards Show live on ESPN.

Other SEC tight ends named to the 2023 John Mackey Award Watch List include Mason Taylor (LSU), Caden Prieskorn (Ole Miss), Donovan Green (Texas A&M), CJ Dipper (Alabama), Rivaldo Fairweather (Auburn), Jacob Warren (Tennessee), Trey Knox (South Carolina), and Michael Trigg (Ole Miss).

Brock Bowers hails from Napa, Calif. In his two seasons in Athens, Bowers has caught 119 passes for 1,824 yards (15.3 avg.) and 20 touchdowns. He has also rushed 13 times for 165 yards and four touchdowns.

Oscar Delp, who is from Cumming, Ga., played as a reserve in 13 of 15 games for the Bulldogs in 2022. He caught five passes for 61 yards and one touchdown.

The back-to-back national champion Georgia Bulldogs are scheduled to open the 2023 season on Saturday, Sept. 2 against the UT Martin Skyhawks at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. (Buy Tickets).
