Darnell Washington, a 6-foot-7, 270-pound tight end for the Georgia Bulldogs, has been selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft (93rd overall).

Washington was a key component as a blocker and receiver in the Bulldogs’ back-to-back College Football Playoff National Championship seasons in 2021 and 2022.

Last season, Washington started 14 of 15 games and totaled 27 catches for 440 yards and one touchdown. He had a career-high five catches in a road victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs and a career-high 78 receiving yards against the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Washington played in 11 games, starting in six, in 2021. As a freshman in 2020, he started seven of Georgia’s 10 games in a season that was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A native of Las Vegas, Nevada (Desert Pines High School), Darnell Washington signed with Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs as part of the 2020 recruiting class. He was a 247Sports.com composite five-star prospect and was ranked as the No. 23 player nationally.

The NFL has not released the 2023 schedule yet, but will likely do that the week of May 8. However, Pittsburgh’s opponents for the 2023 season have been set and can be viewed at the link below:
