Jaylen Heyward, a four-star safety from Rockledge, Fla., has committed to UGA football for the class of 2024.

Heyward committed to Kirby Smart and the back-to-back national champion Georgia Bulldogs on Friday.

“I just love the way Coach Muschamp coaches,” Heyward told UGASports.com. “The defense, you know, the defensive scheme fits in with how the defensive scheme at my school is. I feel like I really don’t get to learn too much when I get up there, because I’m already running the same defense basically.”

Kirby Smart, who is recruiting at 10 different high schools across the state of Georgia today, posted his usual message following the announcement from Heyward.

Jaylen Heyward (6-0, 185) currently plays for Rockledge High School. He committed to UGA over Alabama, Florida, and Ohio State, plus a bevy of other top schools.

In the 247Sports Composite, Jaylen Heyward is rated as a four-star recruit, the No. 3 safety, and the No. 36 overall recruit in the country for 2024.

Rivals.com also rates Jaylen Heyward as a four-star recruit, the No. 4 safety, and the No. 77 overall recruit for the 2024 class.

With the addition of Heyward, the Georgia Bulldogs now have eight commitments for the class of 2024. UGA’s 2024 class is currently ranked first in the 247Sports Team Rankings, just ahead of LSU, Notre Dame, Florida State, and Alabama.
