Georgia first in College Football Playoff rankings for second consecutive week

The Georgia Bulldogs have remained in first-place in the latest College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday evening by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee.

Georgia held onto the top spot after defeating the Mississippi State Bulldogs on the road in Starkville, 45-19. The remainder of the top five also stayed the same with Ohio State second, Michigan third, TCU fourth, and Tennessee fifth.

The Bulldogs have beaten two teams that are currently in the College Football Playoff rankings. Georgia topped No. 5 Tennessee in Athens, 27-13, and crushed No. 12 Oregon, 49-3, in their season-opener in Atlanta.

The Bulldogs are also ranked number one in the latest AP Poll and USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee will release their Top 25 rankings each week on Tuesday through Nov. 29. Below is the schedule of dates (all times Eastern):

  • Tuesday, Nov. 22: 7-8pm ET
  • Tuesday, Nov. 29: 7-7:30pm ET
  • Sunday, Dec. 4: Noon-4pm ET (Selection day)

On Sunday, Dec. 4 at Noon ET, the College Football Playoff Selection Committee will announce the Playoff Semifinal pairings and semifinal bowl assignments. Those will be followed by the pairings for the remainder of the New Year’s Six bowl games.

The Georgia Bulldogs (10-0) are next scheduled to travel to face the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Kroger Field in Lexington, Ky. The game will be televised by CBS at 3:30pm ET.
