Georgia’s home game against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday, Dec. 5 has been postponed due to COVID-19, the SEC announced on Friday.

Vanderbilt-Georgia was postponed due to “…the Vanderbilt football squad size and position availability falling below roster minimum requirements, consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 protocols.”

Georgia is now scheduled to host Vanderbilt at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga., on Saturday, Dec. 19. The game will be played if Georgia does not qualify for the SEC Championship Game.

Georgia is currently one game behind the Florida Gators in the SEC East standings, but Florida owns the head-to-head tiebreaker against the Bulldogs. For Georgia to qualify for the SEC Championship Game, they have to win out and hope that Florida loses two games. Currently, the Gators are scheduled to play at Tennessee on Dec. 5 and host LSU on Dec. 12.

The Bulldogs currently have no game scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12, but it is expected that they will make up the postponed game at the Missouri Tigers on that date. The SEC is set to make a formal announcement on schedule revisions later on Friday.

Georgia is 6-2 so far this season and is currently ranked 8th in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings.
