The SEC portion of Georgia’s 2018-19 basketball schedule was officially announced by the conference on Friday. The Bulldogs open up SEC play on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Tennessee.

Georgia’s first home SEC game of the Tom Crean era is set for Wednesday, Jan. 9 against Vanderbilt.

“All in all, when you have a league with this many formidable teams you are going to be challenged every day to have the mental and physical toughness needed to compete,” Crean said. “Execution and staying connected on both ends will be tested, and we will need ‘the Steg’ to be at a fever pitch every time we step on the court.”

Other conference home games for Georgia include Kentucky (Jan. 15), Florida (Jan. 19), South Carolina (Feb. 2), Ole Miss (Feb. 9), LSU (Feb. 16), Mississippi State (Feb. 20), Auburn (Feb. 27), and Missouri (Mar. 6).

In addition to the SEC opener at Tennessee, the Bulldogs will travel to face Auburn (Jan. 12), LSU (Jan. 23), Arkansas (Jan. 29), Alabama (Feb. 6), Texas A&M (Feb. 12), Ole Miss (Feb. 23), Florida (Mar. 2), and South Carolina (Mar. 9).

“We are certainly walking into a daunting January with the beginning of our SEC schedule,” Crean said. “Back to back road Saturdays with Tennessee and Auburn will make us get an understanding real quick of what it will take to succeed in this league.”

Georgia opens the 2018-19 season on Friday, Nov. 9 against Savannah State at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens.
