Georgia has been rewarded for their efforts in a 33-24 season opening victory over North Carolina.
On Tuesday, coaches’ polls and media polls were released at the conclusion of week one action. Georgia entered the season with the 18th overall ranking, but as many teams toppled throughout the first weekend, the Bulldogs have made their first appearance in the top ten under head coach Kirby Smart.
The AP Top 25 poll, Coaches’ Poll and the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll all rank Georgia at number nine, as they make a rapid rise in each of the polls. Georgia is the second-highest ranked SEC team in the AP Poll behind Alabama.
Georgia’s opponent in the opener, North Carolina, is now unranked after their defeat. The Bulldogs will not face another ranked team until traveling to Oxford to play Ole Miss on September 24, who is ranked 19th.
