4-Star RB Elijah Holyfield commits to UGA for 2016

Four-star running back Elijah Holyfield of College Park, Georgia (Woodward Academy) has committed to UGA for the class of 2016.

Holyfield, the son of legendary boxer Evander Holyfield, committed to the Georgia Bulldogs today at a ceremony at his school.

“I am committed to the University of Georgia,” Holyfield said after having his friends bring in two live Bulldogs (pics below).

Holyfield (5-10, 204) committed to the Bulldogs over Auburn. He also had offers from most of the top schools, inclduing Alabama, Arkansas, Louisville, Miami (FL), Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and USC.

As a junior, Holyfield had 264 carries for 1,735 yards (6.6 avg.) and 25 touchdowns. He also caught 27 passes for 289 yards and three touchdowns.

In the 247Sports Composite rankings, Holyfield is listed as a 4-star recruit, the No. 5 running back, and the No. 166 overall recruit in the nation for 2016.

Rivals.com rates Holyfield as a 4-star recruit, the No. 3 running back, and No. 99 overall in their Rivals100 2016.

Georgia now has 17 commitments for the class of 2016 and Elijah Holyfield is the first linebacker. He’ll join the backfield next season with Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Brendan Douglas, A.J. Turman and Tae Crowder.
