UGA redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Josh Cardiello will transfer to UT Chattanooga, head football coach Mark Richt announced today in a release.

Cardiello (6-3, 293) signed with the Bulldogs in 2013 out of Buford High School in Buford, Georgia. He enrolled early and redshirted during the 2013 season.

Last season, Cardiello only saw action in one game — vs. Troy on Sept. 20.

“Josh and I have discussed his situation,” said Richt. “He likes Georgia but felt it would be in his best interest to transfer in order to have a better opportunity for playing time. I certainly understand and wish him nothing but the best.”

“I want to thank Coach Richt for everything that he’s done for me,” Cardiello said. “I feel that this is the best situation for me to excel in all aspects of athletics and academics. I wish nothing but the best to everyone at UGA and hope they have a great season.”
