Four-star wide receiver/tight end Christian Owens has flipped his commitment from UGA to South Carolina.
Owens announced his commitment today via a statement to several recruiting websites, including UGASports.com.
During these past two years, I have worked tirelessly both on and off the field to represent my school, my family, and the University of Georgia as a solidly committed recruit. However, after prayerful consideration and informational discussions with my family, my coaches, my principal, and the University of Georgia, I am excited to announce that I have chosen to attend the University of South Carolina in January of 2015. I would like to express my appreciation to the University of Georgia for their original scholarship offer, as well as to the many UGA fans that have communicated with me over the past 2 years. I also would like to express my gratitude to Coach Steve Spurrier and his staff for welcoming me with open arms. May God bless you all. Go Gamecocks!
Owens (6-5, 205) committed to the Bulldogs at the G-Day Spring Game. At the time, he also had a scholarship offer from Vanderbilt. In addition to South Carolina, he now has offers from Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
Rivals.com rates Christian Owens as a four-star recruit, the No. 11 tight end, and No. 31 overall in the State of Georgia. In the 247Sports composite rankings, Owens is rated a three-star prospect, the No. 40 wide receiver, and the nation’s No. 331 overall player.
Owens’ de-commitment knocks the Dawgs’ 2015 class back down to 23 recruits. Georgia has five other wide receivers committed for next season — Michael Chigbu, Terry Godwin (athlete), Van Jefferson, Jayson Stanley, and Shaquery Wilson (athlete).

not unexpected
Have fun in Columbia. Go Dawgs!
Has he ever been to Columbia? No comparison between it and Athens IMO.
No surprise here we all knew that some of our receivers would jump.
When you're sure you can't compete with fellow players, RUN.
Now we can go look for a stellar Left Tackle.
Word from an inside source was the kid was heartbroken UGA wouldnt let him come in January. This is why UGA doesn't get Georgia kids. Horrible recruiting job by CMR
HE WILL ENJOY SITTING AT HOME ON NEW YEARS DAY EVERY YEAR
