After their 44-17 victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs have moved up two spots to 10th in the Amway Coaches Poll and remained at 13th in the AP Poll for Week 7.

Georgia moved up in the Coaches Poll by virtue of a wild weekend that saw five AP Top 10 teams lose, including No. 2 Oregon, No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 6 Texas A&M, and No. 8 UCLA.

In that poll, Oregon, Texas A&M and UCLA all fell below UGA while Mississippi State jumped over Georgia all the way to 6th.

In the AP Poll, TCU and Arizona jumped Georgia to 9th and 10th, respectively.

Georgia’s next game is Saturday, Oct. 11 at Missouri (Noon ET, CBS).

  • Seems sorta strange to me that Mississippi State would jump all the way from being unrated by some and 23 by 1 poll all the way to being tied at 3 in AP Coaches & 6 in Amway Coaches Poll..
    Comments anyone??!!...

  • I agree with Lemondrop. Oct 4 was a great day for the State of Mississippi but I'm not sure they should have each jumped that far in the polls. Good news is that 2014 seems to be a year of parity among the top 20 teams which will make Oct & Nov very exciting for all of the fans. There are a lot of unknowns but it is fair to say that the winner of the SEC championship will certainly be one of the top 4 teams in everyone's poll. So the DAWG's destiny is in their own hands to win out, win the SEC championship and represent the SEC in the playoff. Some advice for the UGA coaching staff - RUN THE BALL! Rest your defense. Win the Time of Possession battle. Grind it out and score slowly. Passing/receiving is not our strength in 2014, running is. In fact, a slow, steady, 5-yard-at-a-time offense will frustrate the heck out of many of our opponents. A win is a win and a loss is a loss! Watch the tapes and learn from the many series when we were stopped. Just get W's the rest of the season. Go DAWGs!
