Todd Gurley named to 2014 Maxwell Award Watch List

UGA running back Todd Gurley has been named to the 2014 Maxwell Award Watch List. The Maxwell Award is presented to the college football player of the year by the Maxwell Football Club.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, and three finalists from that group will be named on Monday, Nov. 24. The 2014 Maxwell Award winner will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 11 during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show.

On Friday, Mar. 6, 2015, the award will formally be presented at their annual banquet in Atlantic City, NJ.

Todd Gurley, a 6-foot-1, 232-pound running back from Tarboro, North Carolina, rushed for 1,385 yards and 17 touchdowns as a freshman at UGA.

Despite missing 3.5 games last season due to injury, Gurley rushed for 989 yards and 10 touchdowns. He averaged 6.0 yards per carry in 2013 after averaging 6.2 as a freshman.

Gurley has also caught 53 passes for 558 yards and five touchdowns in two seasons.
