Bulldogs scrimmage in tenth practice of the Spring

Georgia Bulldogs

ATHENS, GA – The Georgia football team went to Sanford Stadium for its second scrimmage of spring practice on Saturday morning.

Today’s scrimmage marked the tenth practice of the spring. Georgia will have two more sessions before the annual G-Day game on April 12 at 1 p.m. Georgia will hold two more practices the week after the spring game.

Following the scrimmage, head coach Mark Richt was encouraged by today’s progress.

“We ran the ball better today,” said Richt. “There was more space created today. The offense had a good first and half and the defense turned it around in the second half. It was a good day of competition.”

Quarterback Hutson Mason went 12-for-16 with 136 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, tailback Todd Gurley led the way with 67 yards on 10 carries. Receiver Jonathon Rumph had a scrimmage-high six catches for 62 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, safety Tray Matthews led the way with nine tackles. Linebacker Ramik Wilson tallied seven tackles.

The Bulldogs will return to practice on Tuesday.
