Mike Bobo of the Georgia Bulldogs has been named the 247Sports Offensive Coordinator of the Year for the 2013 season.

247Sports is a network of websites that focus mainly on football and basketball recruiting, but is also a partner of CBSSports.com and the official online selection partner of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and the U.S. Army National Combine.

Bobo directed perhaps the most productive offense in UGA history this season. So far in 2013, the Bulldogs are averaging 38.2 points and 489.83 yards per game. Both of those numbers are higher than the records that were set in 2012 (37.8 and 467.64).

In addition, Georgia has gained 302 first downs and 3,765 yards in 2013. That’s five more first downs this season in two less games. The Bulldogs are 226 yards short of their total yard mark from last season (3,991), and barring a disaster in the Gator Bowl vs. Nebraska, should eclipse that mark. And the Bulldogs will have played one less game in 2013 than they did in 2012.

The 2013 Bulldog offense was led on the field, of course, by quarterback Aaron Murray and running back Todd Gurley. Their overall numbers could have been better had Gurley not missed 3.5 games and if Keith Marshall and others were not lost due to injuries.

Bobo was appreciative of the award and gave the credit to his players.

“It’s just a credit to what we did offensively as a team, nothing really I did individually,” Bobo said. “Really, the only thing you want to do as a coordinator is get your guys to believe, and I think this year was the ultimate testament of our guys believing in what we’re doing. All the adversity we had this year, they just stayed the course and kept coming to work and getting better. We had a lot of guys step up that didn’t expect to play, and it was good to see them go out there and do well this year.”

Georgia continues to prep for their 2014 Gator Bowl appearance on Jan. 1 against Nebraska. The game kicks off at noon ET on ESPN2.
