ESPN College GameDay will broadcast from Athens for the LSU at Georgia game on Saturday, Sept. 28, the network announced late last night.

The three-hour long college football preview show runs from 9 a.m. to noon eastern on ESPN. It features Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, and Kirk Herbstreit and also includes appearances by David Pollack, Sam Ponder and more.

This will be the first time since 2008 that GameDay has originated from Athens. The last time was the infamous Alabama “Blackout”game when Georgia fell behind at half 31-0 and went on to lose 41-30.

Georgia is 3-12 all-time in games where GameDay originates from. Here is their history via DogBytesOnline.com:

Georgia is 0-2 when GameDay is in Athens. When they are the lower ranked team, as they will be this weekend, the Dawgs are 1-5. Let’s hope they reverse both of those trends vs. LSU.

GameDay uses a guest picker for the show who has ties to the host site school. Samuel L. Jackson, Herschel Walker, Bubba Watson, and David Greene are a few possibilities.

Who do you think should be the guest picker? Let us know in the comments below.

Update (9/23/13)
