Alabama, the no. 1 team in all three major polls, sits atop the BCS rankings. Florida is 2nd, followed by Oregon, Kansas State, Notre Dame, LSU, South Carolina, Oregon State, Oklahoma, and USC.
The Bulldogs are currently ranked 12th in the Harris Poll, 12th in the Coaches Poll, and 13th in the AP Poll. With a favorable schedule ahead, Georgia could climb the rankings but would need an SEC Championship win to enter any discussion for a possible national championship game appearance.
Georgia’s most difficult game remaining is Oct. 27 in Jacksonville against the Florida Gators. If South Carolina loses one more game and the Dawgs beat Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Auburn, then they would play for the SEC title.
Failing that, the Bulldogs could still be selected for an at-large BCS game if they finish the regular-season 11-1.
